Author of “White Fragility,” Robin DiAngelo, attacked well-known conservative podcaster Matt Walsh for tricking her into donating reparations to a black producer in an upcoming film that she referred to as a “Borat-style mockumentary” by posing as an anti-racist activist.
In a statement released on Thursday, DiAngelo declared that she would not be seeing the movie, which she claimed was “designed to humiliate and discredit anti-racist educators and activists.”
She also talked about the awkward exchange between her and right-wing celebrity Matt Walsh in the documentary “Am I Racist?” When Walsh, 38, got down with DiAngelo, he went undercover and pretended to be interested in anti-racist ideas before inviting his black producer, Ben, to join them.
Walsh, who writes for the conservative Daily Wire, persuaded her to give Ben money as compensation after he also gave away some of his own money during the embarrassing situation.
In her lengthy statement, DiAngelo, 68, stated that the document was intended to be titled “Shades of Justice” and discuss attempts to eliminate racism in the US until she was contacted by an organization about it in 2023.
Walsh offered her $15,000 (which she subsequently gave) to be a part of the interview, but when she arrived, “a few things felt off,” including the “ill-fitting wig” Walsh was wearing in a man bun.

However, she claimed that Walsh appeared to be “earnest” about his anti-racist work, and that up until “things got weird” at the end, when she dug into the embarrassing reparations incident that left DiAngelo looking puzzled.
“I emailed the contact person, who went by the name of ‘Lee Hampton,’ to explain that this scene was not an example of reparations and could mislead viewers because I was so unsettled by the way Matt manipulated this last scene,” DiAngelo said.

“I requested that it not be used in the movie and provided other references outlining proper systemic measures for restitution. He gave me the reassurance that he understood and that they hadn’t made up their minds about compensation yet.
He didn’t get back to me or respond to my emails after that. She claimed to have discovered she “had been played” later.
It is not intended to promote anti-racist causes or go by the name “Shades of Justice.” “Am I Racist?” is a mockumentary in the vein of Borat that aims to degrade and undermine anti-racist activists and educators,” the author claimed.
When DiAngelo’s best-selling book “White Fragility: Why It’s So Hard for White People to Talk About Racism” appeared on bookstore shelves in 2018, it quickly became well-known.

Matt Walsh’s documentary, which will be the Daily Wire’s first big-screen premiere, is scheduled to open in theaters on September 13. DiAngelo proceeded to make fun of her on Thursday, and Walsh took great pleasure in it.
“Our film has been criticized by a statement released by Robin DiAngelo. He tweeted, “She says the film is ‘aimed to discredit and humiliate anti-racist educators and activists.'” She is absolutely right when she makes that assessment. I’m grateful, Robin.
The fact that she mentioned that she saw my “ill fitting wig” when she first sat down with me is my favorite part of this amazing comment, he said. “And yet, she conducted the interview for some reason.”
