Eight years later, Tim Walz, the 67-year-old brother of the former president, is running against Hillary after teaming up with Vice President Kamala Harris on the Democratic party’s 2024 ticket.

Furthermore, Jeff Walz doesn’t seem to be pleased with his sibling’s ambitions for politics. Jeff Walz stated on Facebook that he is “100% opposed” to his sibling’s political views and even warned other social media users that he is “not the type of character you want making decisions about your future.”

Regarding the governor of Minnesota, he stated in a message on Friday night, “I’m 100% opposed to all his ideology.”

Even further, Jeff Walz said that he could be willing to publicly support Trump in the presidential contest.

Jeff said, “I’ve thought long and hard about doing something like that!” in response to a Facebook user who wanted him to “get on stage with President Trump and endorse him!” I can’t decide whether to do that or just keep my family out of it.

“The stories I could tell,” he said. It’s not the kind of person you want making decisions that will affect your life.

The Independent has requested a statement from the Harris-Walz campaign. The Minnesota governor, 60, and his elder brother, 67, are not speaking to each other and have not been in contact for eight years, the Post reports.

Tim Walz has been involved in the Democratic party for at least 20 years. He first volunteered for John Kerry’s presidential campaign in 2004, went on to serve in Congress for 12 years, was elected governor of Minnesota in 2018, and as of last month, was selected as the Democratic party’s vice presidential nominee.

Contrarily, according to Federal Election Commission records, Jeff Walz, a resident of the Florida Panhandle and registered Republican, gave $20 to Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign.

Prior Donald Trump’s initial criminal indictment in his New York hush money case on March 30, 2023, Jeff Walz seemed to be echoing the former president’s comments in a somewhat cryptic Facebook post.

Right-wing activist Laura Loomer was the one who initially brought attention to the post, wherein he stated, “We’ve just become a third world banana republic.” Nonetheless, there are certain parallels.

Jeff Walz was an assistant principal at a middle school in Citrus County, Florida, in the early 2000s, just like his brother.

There have also been run-ins with the law for both brothers. Tim Walz entered a guilty plea to a lesser charge of reckless driving following his 2005 arrest for driving under the influence, but his older brother entered a guilty plea to retail theft for allegedly robbing a Walmart store in 2001, according to The Tampa Bay Times.

Even though his elder brother may not be supporting the vice presidential candidate, the rest of his family has come together since he was chosen to run alongside Harris.

Tim’s spouse Gwen has established herself as a constant presence during election campaigns, and their kids Gus and Hope accompanied their father to the Democratic National Convention.

During his father’s keynote speech, Gus got up in a touching moment and exclaimed, “That’s my dad!” with pride.
